Hi there,
I also read somewhere that SEVEN has an instant messaging client but I am unable to find a link for it. I am using a Sony Ericsson X10 (android 1.6).
My preferred messaging application is MSN Messenger.
Thanks,

Unable to install.
Do I need to uninstall my current version? Or is it because the X10 shipped with Android 1.6?
Thanks,

Does this new application with IM intergrated do any changes to the email app portion of the software? When I received the beta testing questionaire I noted a few comments and concerns while using the email only version on my Samsung Moment running 2.1:
* I've had issues where no matter how many time I clicked an image attachment that I wasn't able to open it. I was forced to reinstall and use the stock email app in order to see the picture. The fact that the plain Jane email app was able to open it, I would only assume that your program should be able to do it with ease.
* Side scrolling works ok, but I didn't know it was even possible until I did it on accident. I know the Moment screen doesn't have a touch screen calibrater, so is there anything on your end that could make it more sensitive to sliding sideways to the next email? Up and down works like a champ.
* It seems after a few weeks or so, and not always consistantly, I get asked to resign into my email accounts. It does it on Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and my AOHell account. Sometimes even after I relogin, it still doesn't take. I've also had it where it goes into a constant looping reminder on the Notifications bar where it wouldn't let me check any of my other boxes until I either reset the phone or killed the app using Advanced Task Killer to stop the constant looping reminder.
* I use custom ROM's via SDX Developers website, so most of the time between ROM's I reformat the phone back to Sprint's stock 2.1 and then load the custom ROM that I'm going to use. I think it's awesome that your app remembers my accounts and says I have a request to update them. The only thing is...I don't know what specific way it is to force this to happen. There are times where I reinstalled your app, entered my phone number and I either get that rotating emblem saying it's connecting and it never does, or is says Connection Error and starts me over at the phone number screen. I can't remember if I hit the back button, enter a bunch of times of what, but it would finally connect and let me start syncing again. Is there any specific directions on how to get it to start resycing the emails again after a fresh installation?
* Can there be a setting in the menu options that allows me to delete an email without a confirmation?
In regards to the newest Email version:
* Not that I use it at this moment, but it's cool that it asks to sync my Contacts list with the specific email box that I'm using. I've used your Sprint branded app on my 755p for years and I like how instead of directly syncing it would just let me enter an email or it'd automatically pull it from my phone as I was typing, kind of like how Yahoo does on a PC. Either way, it's a step in the right direction.
* I like the newer and more detailed image for each email provider while in the app itself, but now the ones on the Notifications bar are smaller and are now the smallest icon on the bat. They we're fine in size before.
* I like the brighter colors once actually viewing the emails...I've never liked dark screens with white text, so the blue colored bar along the top is a nice touch.
* I'm guessing the envelope picture with the @ symbol is a combination of all the email boxes combined? If so, that's a nice touch that I liked on the stock email app so I can check all 5 of my email accounts (read, delete, etc) all without having to manually switch between accounts.
In regards to the newest IM installation:
Why is it asking me if I want it to run at startup? I thought this app was going to run like the psuh email where it's not really running on my phone as a 24/7 app, but more as a notification that someone has written me...kinda of like a text. The main reason why I switched from the stock email app is that it checked the email every 5 or 10 minutes, which killed battery life. Unless I don't understand what push means, I thought that you guys basically store the information and then send me something saying I have an update...no? If this app is going to be running constantly in the background (killing the battery as well), then it'd be no differnt that using the eBuddy IM app I have now.
All in all, it's a nice update so far...and I like the more colorful SEVEN icon for the email. The gray envelope was looking a little blah on my desktop Thanks and keep up the good work!! |

| Version 7.2 installed the client automatically; after the update at v7.3 this client disappears! |

As for an update, after about a week of use, I ended up resorting back to the older version I had saved on my SD card. The IM is nice to have, but MSN has a problem with spambots, so sometimes the IM app would absolutely flood my phone with friends requests, almost rendering it useless until I force killed the app via Advanced Task Killer or yanked the battery. I know that's not SEVEN's fault, but it'd be nice if it had an option like eBuddy does where I can chose to block SPIM friends requests.
I also still didn't like how the icon is smaller in the Notifications Bar along the top, yet the number icon stayed the same size. If I got emails in double digit numbers, the email box icon would disappear behind the number icon so I wouldn't be able to see what I was checking. I still don't see why that was changed in the first place.
I liked the coloring better, I don't know if I ever checked to see if I was able to start viewing pics, but either way...the old version works well also, so I'll wait until the next revision comes out. |
